Free and democratic...? (Pt. 2)

Continuing from yesterday, then...

It's seemingly apparent that when one gives people the feeling that they are being consulted or that they are part of the decision making process, they usually become more cooperative. They have a need to feel part of this process, and when this need is met, they are more willing to meet the needs of others.

How about if someone is given the impression that they are part of the decision making of their own "free" will, but in fact it is merely an illusion. Designed perhaps to lull them into a false sense of "freedom" and "choice".

Is it totally outside the realms of human thinking for one to suppose, that if person A is given "freedom" by person B, then person A will be more receptive to person B's ideas of what they should do with their "free choice"?

In this way person B could have a subtle but very powerful influence over what person A will "choose" to do.

Okay so maybe the second red pill was a bit much...
